(7:50pm) Contractions are getting more intense, and very regular ever couple minutes.  Dave is now on full-time foot massage and back-rub duty!

No exciting news.  Just lots of waiting around and taking naps.  Elise is having semi-regular contractions, and Oliver just got done with a bout of hiccups.

Update at 3:30pm: I guess the contractions are regular, around 2 minutes apart, which is stellar.

We headed out of the house around 2am, and surprising did not hit any traffic on the way to the hospital.  Elise had called ahead, so they had everything all set up for us which was pretty nice. I got to sign a bunch of consent papers for various baby medical activities and got to write down the relationship-to-patient as “father”, which felt rather odd to do.

Between 3am and 7am, both Elise and I went back to sleep, serenaded by the hollerin’ coming from the neighboring patient’s room.  The hollerin’ was shortly thereafter replaced by baby crying; how mysterious.

Now, it is 9:30am, and Elise is getting her IV plugged in, wherever they can locate a vein.  Petocin will get started at a very low level, and hopefully that will get the baby machine working.

Here we go…

Water broke, looks like Oliver didn’t want to be induced.  We’re off to the hospital to check on things, there may still be a bit of a wait left, though.
